Tented Study Cum Library
My client worked from home extensively and wanted a comfortable study wherein his mind could blossom. We chose to cocoon the study with a blue/gray/red fabric. The draped ceiling served three purposes: it brought the room from elegance to grandeur, brimmed with coziness, and provided the best perspective for a mosque lantern we wanted to use. We picked a medium dark wood for the paneling and the bookshelves to balance the delicate tones of the striped Comoglio fabric. Dark shelves would have brought a more oppressing feeling to the room’s architecture. To counterbalance the gathered ceiling fabric, we framed the doors or hid them with more draperies. We adorned the walls with old pictures and watercolors of the Middle East, and selected a drum desk and two Victorian armchairs for our sparse furniture ensemble. The resulting interior design fully exhibits a Middle Eastern flair and lends itself to imagination and repose.
